The NBA has dealt with injuries to some major superstars in the past year. Tyrese Haliburton tragically suffered an Achilles injury during Game 7 of the NBA Finals. He’s not the only major superstar to deal with something like that, though; Damian Lillard and Jayson Tatum are also dealing with the same issue.
There was a time when an Achilles injury might have meant the end of a player’s prime or even their career. But sports medicine and science have advanced quite a bit, and Kevin Durant is the perfect example of why that is no longer the case. It seems like Tatum is out to make Boston Celtics fans happy by proving he can recover quicker than anyone else ever has.

Tatum tore his Achilles tendon in the 2025 NBA playoffs against the New York Knicks. The injury occurred in May. Considering the long recovery process for this injury, many didn’t think he’d play at all during the 2025-26 campaign. But a recent viral workout video on social media may prove otherwise.

It has been four and a half months since JT went down, and the immediate treatment usually ends after three to four months. However, building strength in the leg tends to take much longer after the immediate aftermath, but the Celtics star seemingly isn’t feeling that. The video shows him completing dribbling and shooting drills with ease quite early into his recovery.
This will make Celtics fans happy, and it does suggest that the NBA champion could make a comeback this season itself. Boston is unlikely to be a contender, but if they can make it to the playoffs and Tatum returns to play within the year, it could make all the difference for the franchise.
