Phoenix Suns owner Mat Ishbia had some poignant words for anyone thinking about suing the team during Suns Media Day on Wednesday.

“We don’t settle. If we didn’t do anything wrong, I’m not paying someone,” Ishbia said during a press conference. “If their threat is to go to the media and write a lawsuit, have fun, go write it.”

He pointed to his track record of fighting off lawsuits as a mortgage broker with United Wholesale Mortgage.

The company faced a barrage of lawsuits surrounding its “All In” initiative, accusing the company of multiple antitrust violations in 2021.

Fast forward to 2025 and Ishbia says all the allegations of wrongdoing have been cleared.

“Anyone can file a lawsuit any day they want for any reason they want,” Ishbia said. “But the truth is you have to actually win a lawsuit.”

Recent lawsuits filed against the Phoenix Suns

According to a recent piece by Baxter Holmes on ESPN.com, the Suns have been sued six times since October 2024.

The latest is a case filed by two minority owners who were part of the ownership team under Robert Sarver.

They allege that Ishbia and the team withheld important business and financial records from them and they are asking for access to basic information about the management of the team.

The other lawsuits are related to discrimination, retaliation, harassment and wrongful termination and filed by current or former employees.

“I tell our team, if we do something wrong, go take care of that person,” Ishbia said.

“If we do something wrong, we own up to it,” he added.
