Could Scottie Barnes suit up for Jamaica internationally?

The Toronto Raptors forward confirmed interest in doing so on Monday at the team’s media day.

Asked Scottie Barnes about rumours of him potentially playing for the Jamaican national team.

He confirmed he has interest.

“That’s definitely something I’ve been thinking about doing,” Barnes said.

A native of West Palm Beach, FL, Barnes is eligible to represent the island nation through his father, Scott Barnes Sr.

Barnes has yet to play internationally at the senior level, but previously represented the United States at multiple youth levels. He won gold medals at the 2017 FIBA Under-16 Americas Championship, the 2018 FIBA Under-17 World Cup and the 2019 FIBA Under-19 World Cup.

The 24-year-old Barnes is headed into his fifth NBA season out of Florida State.

The 2022 NBA Rookie of the Year and an All-Star in 2024, Barnes has averaged 17.2 points on .466 shooting, 7.5 boards and 5.0 assists over 34.5 minutes a night in 276 career games.
