Jonathan Kuminga and the Golden State Warriors have been negotiating his potential extension (or trade) for what’s felt like the entire offseason.

Every week, new updates come out, and this week is no different.

According to The Athletic’s Sam Amick, Golden State’s sign-and-trade conversations with the Sacramento Kings have been re-ignited.

“Yet according to team sources, there’s still another scenario in play here: A sign-and-trade deal with the Sacramento Kings. While the two teams went more than a month without discussing the matter during the later part of the summer, team sources said the talks between the two sides were renewed earlier this week.”

Amick also reported that “no significant progress was made in the [sign-and-trade] talks,” but notes that Sacramento’s continued interest is worth monitoring.

Aaron Turner, Kuminga’s agent, stated that they have four contract options if his client were to remain on the Warriors.

Qualifying Offer ($7.9 million), with impending unrestricted free agency
2yr/$45 million deal with a team option, effectively waiving their no-trade clause
3yr/$54 million deal without option
3yr/$75 million deal with a team option

He’s also said that Kuminga’s preference is a player option on the deals to account for what they view as being underpaid in an unideal restricted free agent market as few teams had functional cap space.

Sacramento’s previously reported sign-and-trade offer for the 22-year-old forward included Malik Monk and a protected 2030 first-round pick.
