Boca Raton (CBS12 News) — The Miami Heat are spending this week on the campus of Florida Atlantic University for training camp, and for one former Owl, it’s a surreal homecoming.

Center Vladislav Goldin, who helped lead FAU to a historic Final Four run in 2023, is back where it all began. After following head coach Dusty May to Michigan for the 2024–25 season, Goldin is now chasing his NBA dream on a two-way contract with the Heat.

For Goldin, practicing with Miami on the same floor where he once watched the Heat as a college player feels surreal. Only two years ago, he was a student-athlete soaking in the moment as the franchise trained at FAU. Now, he’s wearing a Heat jersey himself, fighting for a spot on the roster.

The Heat will continue camp at FAU through Friday before heading to Puerto Rico for their first preseason matchup Saturday against the Orlando Magic.
