Key Takeaways
Brooklyn Sports & Entertainment opened an 18,600-square-foot youth basketball training center on Flatbush Avenue, directly across from Barclays Center on September 25, 2025
The facility is the only youth training center in the tri-state area equipped with Shoot360’s immersive technology, featuring eight interactive stations used by NBA teams and 300+ college programs
Brooklyn Basketball’s partnership with NYC Department of Education now reaches more than 200 schools and 40,000 children annually through free in-school clinics
The center serves ages 6-17 with after-school programs, weekend camps, all-girls programs, and advanced private training
BSE Global views the facility as a key tool for building generational fan loyalty while the Nets focus on youth development during a rebuilding phase
From Modell’s to Multi-Court: Facility Details and Location Strategy
The Brooklyn Basketball Training Center occupies the former Modell’s sporting goods store site on Flatbush Avenue, positioning youth programming directly adjacent to the professional venue. The 18,600-square-foot space includes multiple courts and what Brooklyn Sports & Entertainment calls “cutting edge technology” for skill development.
The facility opened with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by BSE Global CEO Sam Zussman, Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso, Nets owner Joe Tsai, co-owner Clara Tsai, and players from both the Brooklyn Nets and New York Liberty. An inaugural youth clinic and community open house followed the ceremony.
“This isn’t just a building,” Zussman said during the event. “It’s a bold step in how we empower youth through sports.”

Technology Infrastructure: Shoot360 System and Training Stations
The center features eight Shoot360 interactive training stations: five shooting cages and three skill cages. According to Brooklyn Sports & Entertainment, this makes it the only youth facility in the tri-state area with this specific technology, which is currently used by most NBA teams and more than 300 college basketball programs.
The technology provides data-driven feedback during training sessions. At the opening event, Shoot360 set up a half-court “shooting lab” to demonstrate the system’s capabilities to families and prospective program participants.
Programming Structure and DOE Partnership Scale
Brooklyn Basketball operates after-school programs for children ages 6 to 17, along with weekend training sessions, camps, daily clinics, all-girls programs, and advanced private training options. Registration is currently open at brooklyn-basketball.com/programs.
The organization’s partnership with the New York City Department of Education has expanded to reach more than 200 schools and 40,000 children each year. The program integrates basketball instruction into physical education classes while incorporating leadership skill development. Brooklyn Sports & Entertainment describes this as a first-of-its-kind initiative for an NBA franchise.
The free in-school clinics serve elementary and middle school students throughout Brooklyn, while the new training center will host paid programming and advanced instruction.

Fan Development Strategy During Nets Rebuild
BSE Global leadership views the training center as part of a long-term fan acquisition strategy, particularly relevant as the Nets enter a rebuilding phase focused on young players and draft picks.
“Your kid comes, says, ‘I want to watch a Nets game.’ Good luck telling him or her anything else, right?” Zussman told the New York Post. “So, I think it’s a way to engage the entire family. It’s the most organic way to do it.”
Brooklyn Deputy Borough President Kim Council emphasized access during the ribbon cutting: “One of the greatest barriers to success is access. Our children need to see and they need to be able to visualize themselves in certain spaces.”
The Nets selected five first-round draft picks in June 2025, finishing the previous season 26-56. BSE Global acknowledges the current roster is “more relatable to someone young” because fans can watch teenage players develop over multiple seasons.
Next Steps and Community Access
The facility hosted open community hours on Sunday, September 28, from 1 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. for Brooklyn residents to tour the space. BSE Global has indicated potential plans to expand to a larger facility within three years if demand warrants, though specific timelines and locations have not been announced.
The organization positions the training center as part of broader community development plans for the area surrounding Barclays Center, continuing its strategy of establishing deeper roots in Brooklyn since the franchise relocated from New Jersey.
