The NBA is a fascinating landscape where rivalries and friendships often blur together.

Players who have once battled hard in the high-stakes NBA Finals scenario, getting chippy or even resorting to low blows, often later find themselves acknowledging one another’s greatness with respect. Few relationships capture this transformation better than that of Draymond Green and LeBron James.

While they still compete hard on the court for every win, the playful banter between them surely seems to not come to an end anytime soon. This was evident when Draymond recently named King James as the NBA player who should not be in the podcast space.

Draymond takes a slight jab at LeBron

Media Day in the NBA often brings out the lighter side of all players. Veterans, in particular, show up in good spirits, encouraging the morale of their teammates and entertaining their fans with their wits.

In the modern-day era, podcasts have only become an extension of that connection.

Numerous former as well as active players host their own shows, using that stage to share behind-the-scenes footage and stories and also share their candid thoughts about the occurrences in the league. Put simply, they show a different side of themselves that fans rarely get to see on the court.

So, when Green was recently asked which player shouldn’t have his own podcast, he couldn’t resist jokingly naming James. For Dray, it was less about criticizing anyone and more about the comfort of taking the name of someone with whom he shares a pure brotherhood and clearly, LeBron seems to be that person.

“A player that has a podcast that shouldn’t? That’s harsh,” Green laughed while answering the question in an interview with “95.7 The Game.”

“Bron. How many other opportunities do I get to throw shade at him? Bron, get out of here. We don’t need you here, bro. Get out of our space,” he added.

LeBron holds a mighty successful and insightful podcast

Interestingly, LeBon’s podcast “Mind The Game,” in fact, is unlike the hundreds of others scattered across social media. Rather than focusing purely on gossip or the day-to-day drama of the league, the four-time Finals MVP uses his platform to educate his audience about the finer details of basketball.

He dives into the nuances of the game, offering fans the opportunity to improve their understanding while also celebrating the contributions of players who might not always get the recognition they deserve.

Green’s jab, therefore, was clearly all in good fun. LeBron himself is unlikely to take offense, understanding that the sentiment was rooted in humor and their brotherly camaraderie.

On the other hand, given how LeBron has attained success in every field he has touched and turned that into a million-dollar success, be it in entertainment, businesses, investments and is even set to earn over $50 million in salaries despite being in Year 23 – Draymond is might be tired of seeing someone succeed in such a manner.

However, Green once also stated that he has ambitious financial goals.

“I want to be a billionaire. I want to be a multi-billionaire,” Green told Maverick Carter in a video series, “Kneading Dough” in 2017 via CNBC. “Tough task for sure. I think I can reach it.”

“Every day, every decision I make is, ‘How is this helping me become a billionaire?'” he revealed.

While having ambitious goals is admirable, he’s still some ways away, while LeBron did reach it a couple of years ago.
