Syracuse Basketball Icon Lawrence Moten, All-Time Leading Scorer, Dies at 53

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Syracuse Men’s Basketball icon Lawrence Moten has passed away at the age of 53. 

Moten, who remains Syracuse’s all-time leading scorer with 2,334 points, played for the Orange from 1991 to 1995.

He would then go onto play in the NBA after being selected by the Vancouver Grizzlies in the 1995 draft.

Moten would spend two years with the Grizzlies before spending a season with the Washington Wizards.

In 2018, Syracuse honored Moten by retiring his number 21 jersey.

Moten’s cause of death has not been disclosed.
