After an extended offseason filled with contract negotiations, sign-and-trade talks and rumors, the storied contract stalemate between the Golden State Warriors and Jonathan Kuminga has reportedly come to an end.
According to Shams Charania of ESPN, Kuminga has agreed to a two-year, $48.5 million contract to return to the Warriors. The former restricted free agent’s new deal with the Warriors will have a team option.

A sticking point in Golden State’s contract negotiations with Kuminga was the team option. Kuminga and his representation reportedly were seeking a player option, while the Warriors wanted a player option. According to Charania, Kuminga’s contract is designed to “be ripped up and renegotiated next summer.”
Kuminga’s new contract comes on the eve of his qualifying offer deadline with the Warriors. As a restricted free agent, Kuminga had the option to agree to a $7.9 million qualifying offer by Oct. 1.
With his new deal in place, Kuminga will now be able to join his teammates at training camp in the Bay Area.
