The Philadelphia 76ers are already dealing with injury issues ahead of the 2025-26 season as second-year guard Jared McCain suffered a UCL tear in his right thumb shortly before training camp began. It’s a tough break for McCain after he was limited to only 23 games as a rookie due to a meniscus tear.
On Tuesday, McCain underwent surgery to repair the UCL tear and the Sixers announced on Wednesday that he will be re-evaluated in approximately four weeks. That puts a possible return in the first week of November so he will miss all of the preseason plus a few regular season games, so the Sixers have to hope he can return sooner rather than later.
McCain is going to play an important role for Philadelphia in the coming season. His shooting, movement off the ball, ability to also run some offense, and energy he plays with will give the Sixers a big boost.
