What’s done is done. The tone was evident at Thunder Media Day on Monday; they’re turning the page on last year’s remarkable run and keeping it simple – focus on the next day.

Oklahoma City has more than enough to win back-to-back NBA Titles. Oklahoma City didn’t lose anybody from last year’s roster, and you have to assume everyone positively tweaked their game.

Early setbacks are no strangers to this franchise. Thomas Sorber, their first-round pick out of Georgetown, is out for the season after injuring his knee. Meanwhile, Kenrich Williams (knee) and Jalen Williams are on standby at the moment, with no exact timetable for their return date.

The silver lining to the early injuries? No titles are won in the first two months, so being healthy at the right time (playoffs) is the key to a shot at repeating.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander didn’t back down Monday on any thoughts of winning it all again. Keep in mind, Shai’s main drive on the court is winning.

“It would suck to lose the NBA Championship in 2026. So that’s the new focus. That’s the new goal. And how we get there is the same as it’s always ever been — daily improvement and focusing on trying to get better at the things that we can control every day. And hopefully we look up and we’ve accomplished the same thing we just accomplished,” Gilgeous-Alexander said.

Daily improvement starts on Tuesday with the first day of practice. Oklahoma City’s first preseason game will be this Sunday at 4:00 p.m. Central against the Charlotte Hornets in Charleston, South Carolina. The first of six preseason games for the Thunder.
