Monday’s scheduled sold-out Detroit concert by hit rapper NBA YoungBoy has been canceled, Little Caesars Arena announced Wednesday (Oct. 1).
In an evening media blast and direct message to ticketholders, the venue cited “unforeseen circumstances.” An LCA spokesperson contacted by the Free Press declined to elaborate on the venue’s statement.
The Detroit cancellation comes a week after YoungBoy’s Chicago arena show was abruptly scrubbed as the Louisiana rapper tours in support of his summer album “MASA.”
Chicago news media pointed out the United Center cancellation came amid an ongoing beef between NBA YoungBoy and local rapper Lil Durk.
Annoyed Detroit ticketholders reacted Wednesday on YoungBoy fan sites after the LCA show was yanked from the tour schedule.
NBA YoungBoy, who broke big out of Baton Rouge in 2017, embarked on the MASA Tour in early September, with arena dates scheduled across the U.S. through November. The tour has generated plenty of controversy, including a Sept. 21 Kansas City show that drew national headlines when an accused teen fan was charged with felony assault following an attack on a 66-year-old venue usher.
The rapper, born Kentrell Gaulden, was pardoned in May by President Donald Trump for federal gun charges stemming from a Utah drug conviction in 2024.
