Even though it was a Thursday morning with school and work obligations, that didn’t prevent superfans from lining up around the store. An OKC Dick’s Sporting Goods store was kept busy with hundreds of patrons for Converse’s SHAI 001 ‘Family’ colorway drop.
Fair to say Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s first signature shoe has been a resounding success. The SHAI 001 released three more colorways made publicly available on Thursday, Oct. 2. This came a couple of weeks after the ‘Butter’ colorway was released.

The ‘Charm Black’ colorway was dedicated to his mother, Charmaine. The ‘Hail Clay’ colorway was dedicated to his wife, Hailey. The ‘Masi Blue’ colorway was dedicated to his brother, Thomasi.
The event had music and food trucks. There was also a giant SHAI 001 ‘Masi Blue’ statue outside the store. Inside, there were photo opportunities as fans were allowed to take home new pairs. On the online front, the shoe sold out quickly and within minutes.
The Oklahoma City Thunder have enjoyed celebrating their NBA championship for the last three months. Now, they’re about to start their title defense. Meanwhile, Gilgeous-Alexander hopes to join all-time legends. He had one of the greatest individual seasons ever with an MVP, NBA Finals MVP and a ring.
