The Golden State Warriors lost to the Minnesota Timberwolves on Monday night, dropping Game 4 of the Western Conference Semifinals by a score of 117-110. It wasn’t nearly that close, as the garbage time unit did some nice re-packaging of a one-sided loss.

With the defeat, the Dubs trail in the series 3-1, and their backs are now firmly against the wall with Steph Curry still sidelined. Here’s how fans viewed the action, as seen through live comments in the Golden State of Mind game thread.

First quarter: ‘He makes the defense collapse’

Despite the end result, the game started well for the Warriors. They had strong energy and defense, and jumped out to a 5-0 lead. Jonathan Kuminga once again shined off the bench by attacking relentlessly, and the Warriors led 28-27 after the first frame.

This game starting this late is dumb!

KZ_Panda

Jimmy and Hield gave up two points at the line … I can take the TJD miss, but not those two!

sameba

They are hitting open 3s, we don’t. Story of the game so far.

Dritzz

I love having Kuminga playing against Minnesota. He makes the defense collapse. He’s the only player on the team that forces the defense to collapse to help. Even Butler doesn’t collapse the defense.

AsFan79

Minny plays a short rotation. If Kuminga continues driving they’ll all be in foul trouble.

All of them

Second quarter: ‘Dray looking like a liability’

Things turned in the second quarter, when the Wolves went on an early 11-0 run. But the Warriors answered with seven straight points to get back in the game. Julius Randle was dominating for Minnesota, and they built the lead up again, but the Warriors went on a 10-0 run late in the frame. The Dubs had all the momentum, but Minnesota stole it at the buzzer when Anthony Edwards made an absurd three. Still, Golden State led 60-58 at the half.

This isn’t looking good….

Casualfansincecovid

Wtf is Randle on?

Dritzz

Green’s defense is leaky today. We need defense to clamp this down.

AsFan79

Minny is shooting 64% from 3.

That’ll come back to earth

King4307

Dray looking like a liability at this point

Shooter13

JK isolation FTW!

Dritzz

Kuminga is getting the Twolves into foul trouble. This is the way.

Third quarter: ‘We don’t exactly have an answer’

This is where the game was lost. The teams traded blows in the opening minutes, and then Minnesota took over. From a tied game, the Timberwolves scored 17 consecutive points, and it was never close again after that, with Randle and Edwards thoroughly dominating. It was a 20-point game at the end of the quarter.

Jk not starting the half ‍♂️

EastBayHoops

Randle and Edwards are cooking. We don’t exactly have an answer.

Tom Ryugo

Wolves are really hitting 3’s.

Warriors are making 2’s and FTs.

Oakanda81

Why is Draymond Green taking any threes in the second half? What is his percentage on three’s in the second half this season? Last two seasons?

Syphon23

Thats game folks.

Shooter13

what happened to Jimmy?

Fourth quarter: ‘Jimmy is absolutely the problem tonight’

It never was close in the fourth. The Warriors showed some heart and hustle, but couldn’t cut into the lead, with Jimmy Butler III’s patented fourth quarter brilliance nowhere to be found. It wasn’t until Steve Kerr waved the white flag and turned to the back of the bench that the score started to look respectable.

Come on show some pride Dubs 2nd tier!!

Steph4Three

Jimmy is way too passive in these Stephless games and not like the playoff Jimmy we’ve been seeing for the past few years. Hopefully next year that changes.

edhardyevents

Hield hasn’t been really good today

King4307

As much as I’d like to get on Podz and buddy Jimmy is absolutely the problem tonight

Dave Katleman

Jimmy has played as much as he can with his tailbone injury and it’s caught up with him, affecting his game too much

Tom Ryugo

Good grief.

Hield 4/11 shooting.

Podz 3/14 shooting.

GP2 1/5 shooting.

Can’t win with key players shooting that badly.

As usual the end of the bench guys look good.
