The big question surrounding LeBron James these days is how much longer he will play in the NBA. He is entering the final year of his contract with the Los Angeles Lakers, and even he may not have an idea of how much longer he wants to remain in the league or with the team.

Some feel the 2025-26 season will be his final one. Others believe that he will look to play one and possibly even two more seasons, partly because his youngest son, Bryce, will be eligible for the NBA draft next year and he may want to play alongside the latter.

At Lakers media day this week, the elder James insisted that he’s “not waiting on” the younger James.

Via Lakers Nation:

“I’m not sitting here, no I’m not waiting on Bryce,” LeBron said during Lakers Media Day. “I don’t know what his timeline is, he’s his own young man now, he’s down in Tucson. We’ll see what happens, this year, next year, but he has his own timeline, I got my timeline and I don’t know if they quite match up. But we’ll see.”

The younger James is starting out at the University of Arizona this fall. The 18-year-old played last season at Sierra Canyon School in the San Fernando Valley, and at 6-foot-5, he is believed to perhaps have some raw NBA potential.

The elder James already shared the court with his oldest son, Bronny, this past season during the same game. Bronny James was drafted by the Lakers in the second round of the 2024 draft and made strides down the stretch last season and during the Las Vegas summer league in July.
