Are we watching an unprecedented recovery in NBA history with Boston Celtics star forward Jayson Tatum’s Achilles injury? Normally, the sort of injury that the St. Louis native suffered vs. the New York Knicks in the 2025 NBA Eastern Conference Semifinals requires about a year to recover from fully, with a mental hurdle remaining to be solved by players even after that.

While we can’t say how the mental aspect of his recovery will go, we have seen a boatload of evidence from Tatum’s camp that the Duke alum is indeed well ahead of schedule when it comes to the physical side of his recuperation thanks to the advanced technique used in his surgery. Will Tatum return before the end of the season? Could he come back before the trade deadline arrives?
