The last time the Golden State Warriors won the championship was in 2022.

At that time, the team still had its core players: Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green.

Andrew Wiggins was also an All-Star that season, and the Warriors had another promising young player in the form of Jordan Poole.

Despite having the right pieces for a championship run, Curry recently revealed that team wasn’t a perfect 10 out of 10.

More importantly, he believes the Warriors’ roster for next season will be superior, with legitimate ability to defeat any opponent in the league.

Curry’s confidence stems from more than just improved roster depth through additions like Al Horford, De’Anthony Melton, and Jonathan Kuminga’s return.

The primary reason for his optimism centers on Jimmy Butler entering his first full season with the franchise, bringing a dynamic the 2022 team never possessed.

“We have a legitimate shot. We can square up against anybody in the West. Obviously, everything has to go right health wise.”

“Anybody who wins a championship, that kinda is a prerequisite, and we just wanna have an opportunity to show that in the playoffs,” Curry explained.

“The idea of in ’22, like, if you told me in training camp that this was a team that was gonna win it all, like, I would have believed it, but maybe not like a 10 out of 10. It might have, you know, somewhere we have to prove it.”

“I think there’s a little similarity there, but Jimmy has another dynamic that we didn’t even have back then. So I’m excited to kinda see it all the way through,” he added.

Roster depth provides championship foundation pending health management

The Warriors enter next season with impressive depth across multiple positions.

They finally secured a reliable stretch big in Al Horford, addressing a long-standing roster need.

Melton provides two-way guard capabilities, while Moses Moody and Brandin Podziemski compete for the starting shooting guard position.

Seth Curry adds additional perimeter shooting to complement the roster’s offensive versatility.

However, Curry acknowledged that health is the critical prerequisite for championship contention, as the Warriors are an aging team.
