Bulls Exercise 2026-27 Team Option on Matas Buzelis

Spotrac insider Keith Smith reported that the Chicago Bulls exercised their 2026-27 team option for sophomore Matas Buzelis. Buzelis made the All-Rookie Second Team last season, and it’s fair to assume the Bulls will exercise the team option on Buzelis’s contract for the following season as well.

Patrick Williams Reflects on the Past

CHGO insider Will Gottlieb posted a quote from Patrick Williams on X (formerly known as Twitter), where Williams reflected on his career shortcomings. Up to this point, Williams’ career has been hindered by injuries, averaging a little less than 10 points over his career. He further added that he wants to hold a leadership role. He also mentioned that he holds himself to a high standard of leadership.

Josh Giddey Injury Update

Joel Lorenzi of The Athletic posted a video of Josh Giddey in a media scrum after practice, explaining that his ankle injury was a minor tweak and that he was a full participant in practice on Friday. Many speculated whether Giddey had reinjured the same ankle from last season and the Olympics.

K.C. Johnson’s Offseason Updates

CHSN insider K.C. Johnson joined co-host Cam Smith on the By the Horns Podcast to discuss head coach Billy Donovan’s defensive vision for the Bulls. Johnson emphasized the impact of newcomer Isaac Okoro, praising his on-ball defense as a valuable asset for the team’s playoff ambitions. Both hosts noted how the Bulls are embracing a refreshed identity, with players adapting to new roles established late last season.

Jonathan Kuminga Rumors Won’t Go Away

NBA insider Jake Fischer reported on his Bleacher Report live stream that the Bulls might still have interest in Golden State Warriors’ forward Jonathan Kuminga. After a publicly documented cold war over the summer between Golden State and Kuminga, both parties agreed upon a two-year deal with a team option on the latter season. Fischer specifically said interest from teams typically doesn’t disappear even after they fail to acquire said player, in this case, Kuminga.
