After Jayson Tatum’s Achilles injury that ended their 2024-25 NBA campaign, no one expects the Boston Celtics to do much in the coming season. The team let go of key pieces of the championship roster like Jrue Holiday, Kristaps Porzingis, and Al Horford. But this offseason has come with some surprises that not many saw coming.
Tatum went viral recently after a video of him working out on the court made it to social media. An Achilles tear has historically been the worst injury a basketball player can get, but JT seems to be bucking the norm. And with optimism increasing that he won’t miss the whole season, the latest reports are validating that idea.

“What does this mean in terms of Jayson Tatum’s ultimate return?” said NBA insider Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report. “That there’s definitely buzz that Tatum could potentially be back sometime in March. They probably made vast improvements in surgery and recovery. That is certainly true.”
If Tatum can genuinely make it back to the court by March, it would change things for the Celtics. There aren’t any clear contenders in the Eastern Conference, and the 27-year-old could lead Boston deep into the playoffs again.

While this is exciting news to read if you’re a Boston fan, it’s equally important to keep expectations tempered. Tatum has just entered his prime, which means that they should treat his return carefully. With that said, NBA fans overall would surely love to see the 6-time All-Star make it back as soon as possible.
