The Denver Nuggets are expected to be one of the top teams in the Western Conference this season after making multiple changes to their roster this offseason.
Of course, Denver suffered their second consecutive second-round playoff exit last season and because of that, they elected to make some changes to their roster this summer around their core of Nikola Jokic, Jamal Murray and Aaron Gordon.

Denver began their offseason by trading Michael Porter Jr. to the Brooklyn Nets for Cameron Johnson which not only landed them a sharpshooting forward but also freed up cap space.
The Nuggets then used the extra cap space to sign Bruce Brown and Tim Hardaway Jr. in free agency and they also acquired Jonas Valanciunas from the Sacramento Kings.
By making these moves, the Nuggets were able to upgrade their depth, which has many around the NBA believing they may be the biggest threat to the Oklahoma City Thunder in the West this season.

Nikola Jokic Makes Major Statement on Nuggets’ Future
While the Nuggets were able to upgrade their roster this summer, the major storyline was Jokic not signing a contract extension.

Because of this, many have questioned whether the superstar center will stay in Denver in the future and he commented on his future with the Nuggets during media day on Monday.
“My plan is to be with the Nuggets forever,” Jokic said when asked about signing a contract extension next offseason.

This is a massive statement by Jokic and one that is great for the Nuggets as it appears the superstar big man plans to be in Denver for the entirety of his NBA career.
Of course, Jokic is widely regarded as arguably the best basketball player in the world currently and he is coming off another incredible season last year.
Last season, the 30-year-old star averaged 29.6 points, 12.7 rebounds, 10.2 assists and 1.8 steals per game while shooting 57.6% from the field and 41.7% from three.

With those averages, Jokic became just the third player in NBA history to average a triple-double throughout the entirety of a season, though he finished second in MVP voting to Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.
Jokic will now look to build off his incredible season last year as he tries to lead the new-look Nuggets to another championship this season before likely signing a massive contract extension next offseason.
