The Denver Nuggets‘ preparation is in full swing as they look to bury the demon from last season when they went down in seven grueling games against the NBA champions, the Oklahoma City Thunder, in the Western Conference Semifinals. Denver is a team that knows how to win a championship, as they did in 2023.

With a well-rounded roster and some fresh faces, the Nuggets will again aim to repeat the glorious feat from the 2023 NBA season. The players are in training camp and will begin their preseason journey against the Minnesota Timberwolves at Pechanga Arena on Saturday night.

Ahead of the preseason games, one of the Nuggets’ rising stars put the league on notice with his bold claims during an interview on the court at training camp. The 23-year-old shooting guard voiced his faith and praised his fellow teammates for performing well in the 2025-26 NBA season.

The former Gonzaga Bulldogs guard, Julian Strawther, gave an on-court interview during the training camp. The 23-year-old began by discussing how he has fared at the camp and what he feels about his fellow teammates heading into the 2025-26 NBA season.

Strawther said, “Oh, I mean, camp’s been going real well. We got a bunch of super high-level guys, which is always fun to just have under one roof and get to compete against each other. And I’m just super excited at what this group can accomplish… I feel like we just gel real well. I feel like the energy’s super high. We’re all super excited to play with each other.”

He added, “For me, it’s just being a solid, dependable player. I mean, that’s the main thing that I want to accomplish: be someone that Coach Adelman can put in and rely on, just cut down on mistakes and be more sound on defense… there’s just so many great players that can do so many great things. So I’m excited to see that grow, and I think we can do something special with that bench.”

Towards the end of the interview, a journalist asked Strawther to comment on playing against the Nuggets’ starters during practice and his opinion about them. He said, “They look pretty sharp. They look real sharp.”

He concluded, “Looks like they’ve been playing with each other all summer. So, I mean, that’s great, but we know we’ve got the best starting five in the league, and we know that. So I feel like, you know, emphasis is on just being a stronger bench unit for them.”

The Nuggets will play five postseason games, after which they will kick-start their new season on October 23 when they travel to San Francisco to take on the Golden State Warriors at Chase Center.
