The Sixers did not have a first round pick so they made a trade with the Atlanta Hawks to acquire one. The Hawks selected Jumaine Jones with the No. 27 overall pick and the Sixers then stepped in and offered up a first-round selection in 2000 to give the Hawks to acquire Jones.

Jones lasted two seasons in Philadelphia averaging 3.7 points and 2.3 rebounds, but he started 14 games for the Sixers in the 2001 postseason when the franchise made a run to the finals. The Sixers then sent Jones to the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 2001 offseason in the Matt Harpring trade.

Jones also played for the Boston Celtics, the Los Angeles Lakers, the Charlotte Bobcats, and the Phoenix Suns. He lasted eight seasons in the NBA as he put together a solid career as the guy who did all the dirty work.
