The New Orleans Pelicans are still in their rebuilding process. They are still figuring out their direction under the new executive, Joe Dumars. The franchise faced a tough summer with Zion Williamson’s lawsuit, which left management in conflict with his potential spot in the rotation. However, the team’s other duo, Herb Jones and Trey Murphy III, emerged in the trade talk ahead of the season.
Many teams are calling to ask about trades for Murphy and Jones, but no team is offering all-star players in return. They are trying to trade draft picks to help the Pelicans rebuild after giving up picks in past trades.
“Rival teams will be closely monitoring the Pelicans, more specifically Herb Jones and Trey Murphy III, as trade targets,” NBA analyst Evan Sidery stated. “New Orleans is reluctant to move them, but a slow start will have many calling to inquire. If either became available, New Orleans would get a massive haul.”
With a powerful roster and Williamson taking charge, the team will try to stay competitive. Pelicans may choose to keep both players. However, with the draft coming soon and many teams are showing interest, a trade may land up of the offer is strong enough.
