We’re seeing leaked images from folks who usually get this kind of thing right that are sure to pull $120 or so out of the wallets of Dallas Mavericks fans everywhere.
It appears that the Mavericks’ Classic Edition green uniforms may be coming back for the upcoming 2025-26 season, to mark the franchise’s 45th year in the NBA.
Though the jerseys are not yet available to order through Nike, we have it on the authority of the sneaker and athletic wear trackers at @EldenMonitors on X, formerly Twitter, that the team will be back in the classic greens for select games this season. Evan Sidery, who covers the NBA for Forbes, had this as far back as a couple of months ago.
The Mavs last donned the Classic Edition green look — and the objectively correct uniform for the Mavs — during the 2020-21 season.
It’s a stain on the franchise rivaled only by last year’s trade of Luka Dončić to the Los Angeles Lakers that the team so rarely plays in all green, as the team did from 1981-1991. The away jerseys swung to royal blue with green accents starting in 1992-93, before the dreaded navy blue took over for the 2001-02 season.
Bringing the all-greens out once every five years (2015-16 and 2020-21 are the last two times the team has played in a version of the classic green look) just isn’t enough. This modern dependence on navy blue reeks of the same brand of homogenized “meh” that renders all restaurants and shopping centers aesthetically interchangeable. Fans with any inkling of nostalgia running through their veins welcome the chance to channel the days of Rolando Blackman, Derek Harper before they put a microphone in his hand and Brad Davis.
The Mavs’ 2025-26 Classic Edition Jersey features a vibrant green base, accented with white/blue trim around the collar and armholes. The iconic “DALLAS” wordmark arches above the player number. The classic Nike Futura swoosh is applied on the right chest. The vintage off-white tone to the hem tag at the front bottom and the NBA logo below the back neck of the jersey tie it all together with a nostalgic nod.
