Fifteen years after he stunned the basketball world by announcing his move from the Cleveland Cavaliers to the Miami Heat in a live television special, LeBron James is once again setting the internet buzzing with talk of another major revelation.

The Los Angeles Lakers star teased what he called “the decision of all decisions” in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday, sparking widespread speculation about the future of his career.

The short video attached to his post shows James sitting alone on a basketball court in a single chair, a throwback to his infamous 2010 ESPN broadcast The Decision, in which he told reporter Jim Gray he was “taking [his] talents to South Beach.” To remove any doubt about the reference, James added the hashtag #TheSecondDecision.

The post ends with a time: 12 pm ET on Tuesday, when the 39-year-old forward is expected to make his announcement. However, James offered no clues as to what that might be.

As he turns 41 in December, many fans and analysts believe the announcement could concern his retirement or final playing years. The four-time NBA champion and 20-time All-Star has previously hinted that the end of his career may not be far off.

Speaking to reporters during training camp in September, James said he remained “excited to play for another season” but admitted that “the end is a lot sooner than later,” declining to elaborate further.

Despite his age, James remains one of the league’s most productive players. Last season, he averaged 24.4 points, 8.2 assists and 7.8 rebounds per game, helping the Lakers reach the playoffs before being eliminated by the Minnesota Timberwolves in the first round.

Still, with social media rife with speculation, some have questioned whether Tuesday’s announcement will even relate to basketball. Others have suggested it could involve a new commercial venture or partnership.
