15 years after his original “Decision,” LeBron James appears to be teasing a second one ahead of his 23rd NBA season.

The last time LeBron aired his decision, it was to make the announcement that he was leaving the Cleveland Cavaliers to take his talents to South Beach with Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh on the Miami Heat.

That move helped usher in the age of player empowerment in professional basketball and gave way to the rise of superteams that followed. So what might the King have up his sleeve this time?

LeBron James announces ‘The Second Decision’

Taking to social media on Monday, James posted a 10-second video clip with the caption: “The decision of all decisions. October 7th. 12pm EST. 🫡 👑 #TheSecondDecision.”

The trailer featured two chairs, an interviewer and a small table in a gym, but appears somewhat nondescript and suspiciously similar to another teaser he dropped earlier this year ahead of Amazon Prime Day (which starts back up tomorrow).

Fans quickly began to speculate as to what it could mean across social media:

NBA world reacts to LeBron’s teaser

“Didn’t think we needed a sequel,” Dan Wetzel posted.

“we live in such strange times because either this is an ad or the sports world will be turned upside down,” Molly Morrison replied.

“PLEASE JUST TELL US YOU MADE A TWITCH CHANNEL OR SOME S—T I CANT HANDLE A FAREWELL TOUR RN BRO 😭” a user sobbed.

“retirement edging,” another person said.

“There’s like a 90% chance this is an ad for something,” Hoops Reference shared.

“Either he’s retiring, he’s retiring next year, or this is a commercial for something and I’m 33% sure it’s each of them,” another user shared.

It would make sense that a company would try to leverage LeBron’s massive ability to drive engagement by sharing cryptic videos and trailers — especially with him nearing retirement. So this may not be the LeDecision many fear it might be

But if it is, this NBA season could get very interesting.
