After battling throughout their careers, and even in the 2022 NBA Finals, veterans Steph Curry and Al Horford suited up as teammates for the first time in the Golden State Warriors‘ preseason opener on Sunday against the Los Angeles Lakers.

In his debut as a Warrior, the veteran big man stuffed the box score, recording three points, four rebounds, three asissts, three blocks and a steal in 14 minutes off the bench.

One of Horford’s assists was dished to Curry on a give-and-go in the first quarter. Horford found Curry cutting to the basket for a tough layup.

After the game, Curry reflected on Horford’s fit with the Warriors, speaking about their “unspoken chemistry.”

Obviously, a high-IQ, experienced, championship-caliber player that can fit with any lineup out there. He gives us space, he gives us presence on the defensive end. You saw the pass he made to me out of the corner — the give-and-go. It’s just kind of unspoken chemistry that’ll continue to get better. He is multi-dimenstional as a five man. Excited to see what that looks like for me, for Jimmy, JK, Draymond, any lineup you can throw him out there at the five.

On their way to a 111-103 win over the Lakers, Steph Curry tallied 14 points on 5-of-7 shooting from the field with a trio of made triples from beyond the arc. Curry added two assists and a rebound in 15 minutes for Golden State.

Horford and Curry will link up again on the court when they welcome the Portland Trail Blazers to San Francisco’s Chase Center on Wednesday night for another preseason contest.
