Dalano Banton has joined the Dallas Mavericks.

The team announced the signing of the Toronto-born swingman on Tuesday.

The Dallas Mavericks announced today that they have signed guard/forward Dalano Banton. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

In a related move, Dallas has requested waivers on guard Matthew Cleveland.

Banton, 25, spent last season with the Portland Trail Blazers. He appeared in 67 games, averaging 8.3 points on .391 shooting, 2.0 rebounds and 2.4 assists over 16.7 minutes a night.

Banton becomes the third Canadian on the Mavs roster, joining fellow Torontonian Dwight Powell and rookie Ryan Nembhard of nearby Aurora, Ont.

A product of Nebraska, Banton was originally taken with the 46th overall selection of the 2021 NBA Draft out of his hometown Toronto Raptors.

He’s appeared in 216 games over four seasons with the Raptors, Boston Celtics and Blazers.

The Mavs open their regular season on Oct. 22 with a visit from the San Antonio Spurs.
