The Cleveland Cavaliers had an impressive 2024-25 NBA season, finishing the regular season in first place, but they ultimately failed to win the title. After the conference semifinals exit, several trade rumours surrounded Darius Garland this offseason. However, such a development has not occurred yet.
As the 2025-26 NBA season opening night is close, the Cavaliers are all set to again dominate on the court. Meanwhile, a bold trade proposal for Garland has emerged on social media, sparking major discussions among fans.
“I think they need to trade Darius. That backcourt is too small with him and Donovan (Mitchell). I love the Lonzo (Ball) trade. If I were Kenny (Atkinson), I would start Lonzo, Donovan, De’Andre (Hunter), Evan (Mobley) and Jarrett (Allen) and trade Darius. Sacramento was interested in him before getting Dennis (Schroder) from Detroit. Maybe call them up and see if they want Darius for like Malik (Monk) and salary filler,” an anonymous NBA executive said via Round Table.
According to reports, an anonymous NBA executive believes the Cavaliers should trade Garland. He suggests that Sacramento, in a deal for Malik Monk, could be a potential fit. The Kings previously made an offer to the Golden State Warriors, which included Malik Monk and a first-round pick for acquiring Jonathan Kuminga. However, the Warriors rejected the Kings’ offer.

Garland made strong efforts for the Cavaliers in securing the team’s playoff spot. However, he struggled with injuries during the playoff series. In June 2025, Garland underwent surgery on the injured left big toe, resulting in a recovery period of 4-5 months. However, a video recently surfaced on social media that shows the two-time NBA all-star back on the court.
In the video, Garland was getting some work in at the end of the Cavaliers’ shootaround. He made several mid-range shots, which show positive signs about his recovery. Garland played 75 regular-season games last season and averaged 20.6 points, 6.7 assists, and 2.9 rebounds per game.
The Cavaliers recently played their first preseason game against the Chicago Bulls. The Bulls showcased their dominance and won the game with a final score of 118-117.
