CAMDEN, N.J. — Quentin Grimes is officially back with the Philadelphia 76ers after signing his qualifying offer. He is joining a roster loaded at the guard position with Tyrese Maxey, rookie VJ Edgecombe, second-year guard Jared McCain, and himself as coach Nick Nurse will be playing some guard-heavy lineups.
Today’s NBA is predicated on versatility, playing with pace, and knocking down open looks and that’s what the Sixers have in this group of guards. Maxey is, obviously, one of the quickest and most dynamic guards in the league while McCain showed that he can knock down looks from deep while also being able to put pressure on the rim. As can Edgecombe and Grimes.

All four guards can handle the ball and run offense. All four can score the ball. That is what Grimes is ready to be a part of in the 2025-26 season.
“I feel like we can just push the pace,” Grimes said at practice on Wednesday. “That’s the name of the game right now. Pushing the pace, a lot of shooting, go out there and try to push the pace as much as we can. Getting up and down, putting as much pressure on the defense as we can.”
In the two Abu Dhabi games to begin the preseason, the Sixers started Maxey and Edgecombe together to get an idea of what that duo can do. The speed both players play at is such a big advantage for this group and the Sixers will undoubtedly rely on that as they move forward. With Grimes now returning and McCain around the corner with a return from injury, the Sixers have a chance to be one of the faster teams in the league and should be tough for opponents to stop.
“We have a lot of guards who can attack the rim, make plays, make the right reads,” Grimes added. “A lot of shooting, so if we just play for each other, and try to help each other out as much as we can, everything will take care of itself.”
