On a busy night of league action, Tomah, Central and Holmen all notched wins as the end of the regular season nears.
In Sparta, the Central Riverhawks were victorious in four sets against the Spartans. The away side was paced by Kaitlyn Borge who had a team-high 13 kills. Celia Christopherson logged 19 digs and Ellie Gillitzer was the top passer with 21 assists.
Sparta was paced by Izzy Mickelson who had nine kills. Kaylie Church dished out 16 assists and Addison Kent picked up 32 digs.
Tomah and Logan went to five sets but in the end the visiting Timberwolves took the final frame 15-11.
Logan’s leaders were Kaia Depaolo who had 20 kills, Norah Keller had 27 assists and also led the team in digs with 14.
Taylor Lord had a big night for Tomah as she notched 24 kills, Brielle Plueger passed out 29 assists and Delaney Spolum dug 27 balls.
Holmen, the sixth-ranked team in the latest Wisconsin Volleyball Coaches Association rankings, picked up a three-set sweep of Onalaska, who entered the night in second in the MVC.
With the Vikings’ win, they improve to 29-0 and 11-0 in league play. Onalaska falls to 17-9 overall and 6-4 against conference opponents.
Holmen will wrap up their regular season next Thursday on the road against Logan looking to pick up their 30th win of the year. Onalaska will end the year at home against the Rangers on Tuesday and away against Sparta on Thursday.
