As NBA teams prepare for the 2025-26 season, some are already making moves to finalize their rosters.
Recently, fans have seen the Golden State Warriors retain Jonathan Kuminga and add Al Horford. The Philadelphia 76ers kept guard Quentin Grimes.

Aside from signings, a number of players have been released. On Tuesday, five players were waived by their respective teams, including former first-round pick MarJon Beauchamp.
One decision that stood out, however, was the release of second-year guard DJ Rodman. If his surname is familiar, it’s because he’s the son of Chicago Bulls legend Dennis Rodman and brother of NWSL star Trinity Rodman.
Rodman was with the Charlotte Hornets during training camp, but the team announced on Tuesday that he had been waived.

Rodman went undrafted in 2024 after playing five years at the collegiate level — four with Washington State and his final year at USC. In the NBA last season, he spent most of his time in the G League.
The 24-year-old guard played for the Capital City Go-Go — the Washington Wizards’ affiliate — during the Tip-Off Tournament and averaged 2.7 points and 3.2 rebounds in six games. The Maine Celtics signed him in January 2025, and he played 25 regular-season games, putting up 6.8 points, 5.7 rebounds and 1.6 assists.

It remains to be seen if another team will claim the 6-foot-6 Rodman off waivers. If he goes unclaimed, he will have the option of going back to the G League. For now, though, it doesn’t look like he’ll be part of the Hornets’ main NBA roster.
The 2025-26 NBA season kicks off on Oct. 21.
