Former Boston Celtics forward Paul Pierce was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol charges after he was found sleeping behind the wheel of his car on a Los Angeles highway Tuesday night, the California Highway Patrol announced.On Tuesday, just after 10:30 p.m., CHP officers responded to a multi-car crash in the northbound lanes of Highway 101 in Los Angeles, near Lankershim Boulevard.While officers were investigating the crash, they saw a Range Rover SUV stopped in one of the lanes south of the crash scene. According to police, the driver of the SUV, Pierce, was found asleep at the wheel. Highway patrol officers reported signs of alcohol impairment in Pierce and began a DUI investigation. Pierce was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol. The case will be presented to the Los Angeles City Attorney for review.Pierce spent 15 seasons with the Celtics, winning an NBA championship and Finals MVP award with the team in 2008.
