Rookie Ace Bailey and the Utah Jazz open up their NBA Preseason against Amen Thompson and the Houston Rockets on Wednesday.
The Utah Jazz open up the preseason with one of the youngest rosters in the NBA. One of those young players is fifth overall pick Ace Bailey. After finishing last season with the worst record in the league, Utah slipped in the lottery, taking Bailey. He joins fellow rookies Walter Clayton, Keyonte George, Walker Kessler, Cody Williams, and Kyle Filipowski as the future in Utah. That future gets its first look in the preseason against the Houston Rockets (0-1) on Wednesday. In its first preseason game, Houston defeated the Atlanta Hawks, 122-113, led by All-Star Alperen Sengun.

Sengun finished with a team-high 19 points on 5-of-9 shooting. He added six assists, five rebounds and two blocks in the win. Houston was without Kevin Durant and Dorian Finney-Smith, both coaches’ decisions, and Fred VanVleet (torn ACL).
Amen Thompson, Tari Eason, and Jabari Smith Jr. combined for 30 points on 12-of-25 shooting. The trio will all have large roles this season with VanVleet out and Houston looking to make another evolution towards an NBA Championship.
A potential wildcard in that will be second-year guard Reed Sheppard. The third overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft opened the preseason with seven points and one assist on 1-of-4 shooting from three.
