News: 3 days agoSengun produced 13 points (5-8 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 3-3 FT), 13 assists, five rebounds and four steals across 28 minutes of Wednesday’s 140-127 preseason win over Utah.

Spin: Sengun racked up 13 of Houston’s 32 assists Wednesday. The big man now has a total of 19 dimes through two preseason games, suggesting that a ton of offense is going to be run through him in the absence of Fred VanVleet (knee). With a strong run at EuroBasket followed by a terrific start to the preseason, Sengun’s fantasy arrow is pointing up.

ESPN Fantasy Projection: Sengun has turned in consecutive elite-production seasons, earning his first All Star berth and averaging a double-double for the first time in his last campaign. In that span, he averaged a rounded 20 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists with just over a steal and just under a block per game. While the second leading scorer, Sengun was arguably the primary offense contributor for the Rockets last season. He should get even more opportunity this season, because with Kevin Durant replacing Jalen Green as the leading scorer, Sengun will be operating against less-focused defenses. Sengun also likely gets more creation opportunity this season with point guard Fred VanVleet injured.
