For Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo, his offseason was full of unnecessary drama. It all kick-started when his team inexplicably waived Damian Lillard. Then, there was his uncertain participation in EuroBasket 2025, which he eventually did participate in.

Additionally, swirling trade rumors suggest that he no longer wants to wear a Bucks jersey. Giannis has since expressed his opinion on that matter. Like other superstars, he understandably wants to compete for titles as long as possible. He’s thinking about his legacy in the game. After all, one can only do so much, and there will always be threats of injury.

That’s why, in a preseason matchup against the Chicago Bulls, Bucks fans immediately noticed when their beloved star tried to draw up a play during third-quarter action. The clip has been reposted, but was first shown on the Milwaukee Bucks’ X account.

What does Antetokounmpo’s action mean? Clearly, it implies that despite all the uncertainty, Giannis is still fully committed to the Bucks. His interaction with Myles Turner indicated that both are passionate about bringing the team back to respectability.

Should a trade happen, the Bucks have openly communicated that they would prefer multiple future assets over accepting players under contract. That’s why it’s quite shocking to know that the Oklahoma City Thunder, who have a boatload of future picks, reportedly aren’t seeking to trade for Antetokounmpo. Milwaukee wants to rebuild if an Antetokounmpo trade does happen, not slug it out for meaningless wins.

Even with their offseason additions, it’s hard to envision Milwaukee becoming a contender this season. This team is a shadow of its former self, especially the 2021 title-winning version. However, with the Eastern Conference relatively weaker this year, don’t be surprised if the Bucks can make a surprising run in the 2026 playoffs.
