The Boston Celtics did their best to forget blowing a 27-point lead to the Toronto Raptors on Friday night by romping the Cleveland Cavaliers 138-107 on Sunday night, never once surrendering the lead in the process as they improved to 2-1 in preseason play.
The dominant showing was the Celtics’ first win at home, breaking in TD Garden the right way ahead of the 2025-26 season with a wire-to-wire victory in which they shot over 52% from the floor and exactly 40% from beyond the 3-point arc. While the Cavs put up 102 shots to the Celtics’ 82, Cleveland converted on just 36 of those attempts and gave up a whopping 39 points off turnovers.
While the Celtics were excelling in the scoring department — with first-year Celtic Anfernee Simons dropping a game-high 21 points off the bench — they lost the offensive rebounding battle, 21-12. Limiting an opponent’s extra possessions will be critical for the C’s this season, especially with star forward and leading rebounder Jayson Tatum out indefinitely.
Boards aside, let’s take a look at some of the best photos from Boston’s blowout win before it prepares for its last preseason contest with the Raptors on Wednesday night.
