After putting together some nice performances in the NBA’s Summer League back in July, Jaden Akins has officially parlayed that success into an opportunity at the next level, and he’ll be staying local. Over the weekend, it was announced that former Michigan State basketball standout guard Jaden Akins has signed an Exhibit 10 deal with the Detroit Pistons.
An Exhibit 10 contract in the NBA allows teams to sign a player to a non-guaranteed deal for summer league or training camp. It also has some mechanisms that help the team secure the player to their G-League affiliate, namely, that the Exhibit 10 deal grants a $75,000 bonus to the player if he is cut but sticks around with the organization’s G-League team.

So, Akins can get some experience with the big league club now, and then get some extra money in his pocket to join the Motor City Cruise.
