LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – The first AP Poll for NCAA Men’s Basketball is out and Purdue sits atop the Top 25.
The Boilermakers are followed by the two teams from the 2025 National Championship, with reigning champions Florida ranked at No. 3, behind runners-up Houston. UConn slots in at No. 4 while Rick Pitino’s St. John’s round out the Top 5.
The University of Kentucky is ranked No. 9 to start the year, two spots ahead of rival Louisville, who sit at No. 11 with 966 votes. It’s the first time since the 2019-2020 season that the Cardinals have been in the preseason Top 25.
John Calipari’s Arkansas Razorbacks sit at No. 14.
The Cards play six of the preseason Top 25, including the Oct. 24 exhibition game against No. 19 Kansas. In addition to the Wildcats and Razorbacks, Louisville plays No. 18 Tennessee, No. 6 Duke twice and No. 25 North Carolina.
