Many view the Houston Rockets as the winners of the offseason. Houston made a flurry of moves this past summer, one of which included acquiring one of the best players in the game today, 15-time All-Star forward Kevin Durant.Â
Durant landed with the Rockets this past summer after a massive seven-team trade took place. Durant moved from the Valley of the Sun to H-Town and will look to take Houston to the next level.Â

The Rockets enter the season as one of the best teams in the league and favorites to hoist the Larry O’Brien Trophy. As for Durant’s former team, the Suns, they are in a different tier compared to the Rockets.Â
Phoenix lost its best player, and while the club still has Devin Booker on its side, the Suns aren’t expected to do much. Durant is known for replying to fans via X and engaging in back-and-forth conversations with them, and that was the case on Sunday.Â
A fan on X posted a video of the Suns’ bench celebrating after a big player made a notable play during one of their preseason games. A fan by the user name of JEHOVAH’S FLYEST WITNESS quote-tweeted the video and said, “Suns won the trade! Thank You @KDTrey5.”Â
Durant replied a little over an hour later and took a shot at his former team.Â
“No expectations=better vibes. Enjoy the season brother,” wrote Durant.Â

It didn’t stop there. Below Durant’s post, an X account by the name of Suns Brasil (@PhoenixSunBra) let him know that his tenure and influence on the team still resonated.

“You know that you were much more a part of the solution than the problem, right? Just making that clear. The young people on our team are growing a lot, and a big part of that is having you as a role model. I wish you were still here with this same group. We will miss you.”Â
Durant decided to take the high road and simply say, “Love. Preciate ya champ!!”Â

The Suns and Durant did not end on great terms. The relationship between the two sides ended on bad terms, as they were constantly looking to trade him during the 2025 season without his knowledge.
Durant openly spoke about the end of his tenure.
“The Suns pretty much let the league know that I was on the market,” Durant said on CNBC’s Game Plan.
“Initially, I was a little upset because I felt like we built a solid relationship.
“To hear that from a different party was kind of upsetting, but that’s just the name of the game. So, I got over that quickly and was trying to figure out what the next steps were.”
The 36-year-old superstar was dealt to Houston from Phoenix in exchange for Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks, the No. 10 draft pick, and multiple second-round picks.
Houston has the seventh-best odds to win the title with 14-1 odds, according to ESPN Bet. The Suns have 500-1 odds.
