Brenden Nunes, Frankie Cartoscelli, and Chris Watkins present another episode of the Return of the Roar podcast, presented live on Sactown Sports 1140 AM as the Sacramento Kings begin an offseason that could include widespread changes.
The Kings have already made the decision to move on from 2022-23 NBA Executive of the Year winner Monte McNair, with new general manager Scott Perry set to begin his tenure with the team this week.
Will Perry make a big swing this summer? Could Sacramento go big-fish hunting for a starting point guard?
That and much more are discussed on the final Return of the Roar podcast until the start of free agency in June:

All that and plenty more great conversation can be heard using the YouTube link above or on all major podcast listening platforms, such as Apple Podcasts, Spotify, etc.

The Sacramento Kings announced today that Scott Perry has been named General Manager. Perry will oversee basketball operations and report to the owner and chairman. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
“Scott brings a wealth of experience, a sharp basketball mind, and a strong track record of building talented rosters,” said Kings Owner and Chairman Vivek Ranadivé. “He shares our commitment to developing and sustaining a winning culture, and I am excited to welcome him back to Sacramento.”
“I appreciate the opportunity to rejoin the Kings organization and help build a successful team that competes at a high level,” said Perry. “I’m eager to get to work with the players and staff to continue moving the organization forward.”
Perry brings 25 years of front office experience to the helm of Kings basketball, most recently serving as the general manager of the New York Knicks.
During his time in New York, Perry oversaw the acquisition of three-time NBA-All Star and two-time All-NBA forward Julius Randle, as well as two-time All-Star and 2023-24 All-NBA guard Jalen Brunson. After finishing his first season (2017-18) in New York with 29 wins, Perry saw the Knicks to a 47-win season in 2022-23 and an Eastern Conference Semifinals appearance, the Knicks first conference semifinals appearance since the 2012-13 season.
Prior to his time with the Knicks, Perry served as Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations for the Kings in 2017 and held front office roles with the Seattle SuperSonics, Orlando Magic and Detroit Pistons. Detroit reached the Eastern Conference Finals on six occasions (2003-08), made consecutive appearances in the NBA Finals (2004 and 2005) and won the NBA Title in 2004 during Perry’s tenure.
He also served as the Seattle Supersonics assistant general manager in the 2007-08 season, during which the franchise drafted Kevin Durant No. 2 overall.
Before entering the NBA executive ranks, Perry spent three seasons as head basketball coach at Eastern Kentucky University (1997-2000) and nine years as an assistant coach at the University of Michigan, UC Berkeley, and Detroit Mercy.
