The 2025-2026 men’s college basketball season is only a few weeks away. A lot of fans will definitely be keen to see which players will be named to the Preseason All-America team. And for sure many people will have something to say about the AP Top 25 preseason rankings.

Of course, any true lover of hoops would never overlook the players who shine for their outstanding name, perhaps even more so than their outstanding game. We’re not talking about the players who will only make a name for themselves with their performances. We’re talking about the players whose names, already speak for themselves.

Well, the “First Team All-Name Team” for 2025-26 sure has a dependable and loaded backcourt. You have All Wright of Xavier, who you may want to force to his left every time he touches the ball. And then there is Always Wright who plays for UT-Rio Grande Valley. You can bet that this guy never makes a wrong decision on the basketball court.

Louisiana-Monroe guard Wiggy Ball may not be related to the NBA’s Ball brothers, but I don’t think Lonzo, Lamelo or Liangelo has a shot as Wiggy as his jumper. I have no idea how much Po’Boigh King of Sam Houston is making on NIL this year but if he’s a fan of po-boy sandwiches, then there are endorsement deals to be had for this hooper.

Any group of friends would be blessed to have a friend like Chandler Bing in their friendship group, someone who is good for group chemistry and camaraderie and who above all else is there for you. And the Vanderbilt basketball team are blessed to have a forward like Chandler Bing on their roster.

He may not actually be playing for a school in Tennessee, but maybe Le Moyne’s Tennessee Rainwater can make it rain from three if you don’t close out on him in the perimeter.

These are just a few of the best names in college basketball. You also have Bethune-Cookman’s Doctor Bradley, a college student who doesn’t even have to get a PHD to be called a doctor.

There are also a few namesakes like George Washington III of Florida Gulf Coast, Spudd Webb of Georgia Southern and Theodore Pendergrass III of Delaware State. And there are absolute classics such as UConn’s Solo Ball, Central Michigan’s Phat Phat Brooks and San Francisco’s Legend Smiley, just to name a few.

There sure are great names all across the board in college hoops this season. And regardless of what their season averages turn out to be this year, these college basketball players certainly have names that will stand out on any box score.
