Despite spending nine seasons with the Minnesota Timberwolves, Karl-Anthony Towns was often called out by fans.

On the other hand, after playing with the New York Knicks for just a single season, Karl-Anthony Towns has established himself as one of the best centers in the league.

But what is the reason behind it? Well, Minnesota Timberwolves head coach Chris Finch has an explanation for the same.

Finch also believes that another Timberwolves star is going through the same problem like Towns.

Last season, Towns was traded to the Knicks in exchange for a deal centered around Julius Randle.

Speaking of Randle’s debut season, he faced a plethora of criticism during the regular season, but redeemed himself come playoff time.

Now, ahead of the 2025-26 season, coach Finch has shared his honest thoughts on Randle as a player.

“What I love about Julius is he’s a physical player on offense. Hit first player, he’s coming at you all the time, he’s going to make you make a choice.

“I was personally happy for him having such a great playoff run, these unfair narratives build up, we saw it with KAT when he was here,” Finch said on The Craig Kilborn podcast.

He added: “These guys get unfairly labeled without considering the circumstances and other things.”

It took him some time, but Randle changed his game to become a valuable asset for the T-Wolves.

Finch’s statement suggests that if Randle wasn’t treated unfairly, he would have done the same sooner rather than later.

Chris Finch shares his first impressions of Joan Beringer

Another player who is expected to play a crucial role on the Timberwolves this season is Joan Beringer. The 17th overall pick has been rated highly by the Timberwolves front office.

In fact, coach Finch previously lauded Beringer for his fearless basketball habits. The T-Wolves coach continues to go gaga over the rookie.

“He is very raw in his experience, but he has feel, which is a unique combination you don’t see in guys that start playing the game so late.

“He has patience, he has poise, he reads situations extremely well, he catches things. He is another fearless player. There’s not much that does intimidate him,” Finch stated.

Finch also shared his first impressions of Beringer, stating: “When I saw him play for the first time I was very impressed. He knows who he is. A lot of it is knowing who you are and improving on that base.”

It feels like Beringer has all the elements to be a fan favorite as well as a key player under coach Finch.
