A successful season up north with the Edmonton Stingers of the Canadian Elite Basketball League brought former Missouri guard Sean East II back to the U.S.

East signed a deal to play with the Utah Jazz on Tuesday. Per the team’s policy, terms of the contract have not been released.

East played his final two years of his collegiate career at Missouri. He appeared in 65 games and averaged 17.6 points in his final season.

While the Tigers struggled amid an 0-18 finish in Southeastern Conference play and an 8-24 record overall, East’s campaign was one of the lone bright spots. He earned the SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year award that season.

East arrived at Missouri in the 2022-23 season after transferring from John A. Logan College. He averaged 7.3 points in 23.4 minutes per game during the year and started in one of his 35 games played. That was the season the Tigers made their March Madness run and advanced to the Round of 32, concluding with a 78-63 loss to Princeton.

After finishing at Missouri, East was not selected in the 2024 NBA Draft. He signed an Exhibit 10 contract with the Los Angeles Lakers and their G League affiliate, the South Bay Lakers, and appeared in the Summer League. He later became the No. 3 pick in the 2024 G League Draft.

East opted to head north from there and play for the Stingers. There, he started all 25 games and averaged 23.3 points, 4.8 assists and 4.2 rebounds.

The signing with Utah could pave the way for East to get an opportunity in the G League again, but this time it would be with the Salt Lake City Stars.
