It may be only the preseason, and with the attention on new players like John Collins, Brook Lopez and veteran Chris Paul, the Clippers also have one of their star players in Ivicia Zubac. Zubac has shown the first two preseason games that he is definitely going to be an All-Star this season. Zubac is the longest tenured Clipper on the team back when the Clippers traded for him in February 2019 from the Lakers. Zubac had an impressive season last year, and the Clippers coaching staff expects even more out of Zubac this season.

From training camp and the first game of the preseason, Head Coach Ty Lue has been treating Ivica Zubac like an All-Star based on how much work he put in during the offseason and how much he improved on since last season. Ty Lue is going to be expecting more from Zubac this upcoming season with a loaded roster with Kawhi Leonard, James Harden and other key guys like Chris Paul, Bogdan Bogdanovic and Bradley Beal. Zubac has played 16 minutes and he posted up 15 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assists so far in the preseason.

The coaching staff on the Clippers is going to be expecting Zubac to get more on the offensive side of the ball, the same situation like how the Houston Rockets do with Alperen Sengun, who was a first time All-Star last season in the Western Conference. Ty Lue wants to use Zubac on every possession this season whether it’s fast breaks, running the floor with Harden to catch an alley-oop.

Head coach Ty Lue will definitely mix up the lineup this season and share minutes between Zubac and Brook Lopez this season. Ty Lue really likes how his team is going to be when the Clippers open up the season at home against the Suns on October 24th!
