The Minnesota Timberwolves worked hard this summer and started a promising journey in their preseason games. With a robust roster led by Anthony Edwards, the team is looking forward to building positive momentum for the next season. However, their reliable guard, Donte DiVincenzo, stole the spotlight by revealing how he spent the offseason in Minnesota.
Divincenzo came to Minnesota’s depth after a blockbuster trade from the New York Knicks that included Karl Anthony Towns in the Knicks’ core. He had a promising career in the Knicks’ rotation and became a bench player in Minnesota. With his elite catch-and-shoot skills and solid defense, he fits well in the core and is ready to contribute.
“Just trying to be outside as much as possible because during the season you don’t get to enjoy it as much,” DiVincenzo stated when asked about how his summer went in Minnesota. His comments indicate how hard the team worked to focus on improving and utilizing the time for making a strong contention.
Last season, DiVincenzo’s aggressiveness on the court during a game against the Detroit Pistons received strong criticism; however, this must not affect his on-court presence for the upcoming season. As an experienced player, he must be focused on his game and shape himself to shine in the league.

DiVincenzo is entering his second year with the Timberwolves. His shooting, passing, and defense make him stand tall in the rotation, whether starting or coming off the bench.
The 28-year-old is eligible for a three-year, $64.5 million extension. However, with several big contracts already in the queue, paying him over $20 million a year is a big move for the team.
The franchise values him as a core asset, but his playoff struggles and cap concerns could put the Timberwolves in conflict. Nothing seems close so far, and if no extension happens by next summer, the star guard may land in a trade buzz.
