Malcolm Brogdon, who played three seasons for the Indiana Pacers, has announced his retirement from basketball.
The 32-year-old played for the Pacers from 2019-22, starting 146 games and averaging 19.9 points, 6.3 assists and 5.1 rebounds per game.
“Today, I officially begin my transition out of my basketball career,” Brogdon said in a statement on Wednesday, Oct. 15. “I have proudly given my mind, body and spirit to the game over the last few decades. With the many sacrifices it took to get here, I have received many rewards.
“I am deeply grateful to have arrived to this point on my own terms and now to be able to reap the benefits of my career with my family and friends. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, to all who have had a place in my journey.”
He was selected in the second round of the 2016 NBA Draft by the Milwaukee Bucks, where he earned Rookie of the Year honors and played for three seasons. The Bucks traded him to Indiana in July 2019.
During his time with the Pacers, Brogdon traveled to East Africa as part of the Brogdon Family Foundation to assist with the installation of clean water wells.
Indiana made the playoffs in Brogdon’s first season in Indiana but struggled the next two. The Pacers traded for Tyrese Haliburton midway through the 2021-22 season.
The Pacers traded Brogdon to the Boston Celtics for multiple players in July 2022. He played one season each for the Boston Celtics — earning Sixth Man of the Year in 2023 — Portland Trail Blazers and Washington Wizards. He had signed with the New York Knicks for the 2025-26 season.
