Heading into Game 3 of the best-of-seven American League Championship Series, the Seattle Mariners have one more fan on their side. This one is a noted 6-foot-11 small forward with some Seattle ties of his own.
Good luck @Mariners…good throwback Josh https://t.co/26FrDN4UNO

Houston Rockets star Kevin Durant wished the Mariners luck on social media after seeing first baseman Josh Naylor rocking Durant’s Seattle SuperSonics jersey ahead of his arrival at T-Mobile Park.
Durant, of course, is no stranger to the Seattle area, having been drafted No. 2 overall out of Texas by the SuperSonics before the franchise was relocated to Oklahoma City, becoming the Thunder.
While it’s certainly a nice homage, Durant is a pretty massive baseball fan in his own right, having attended Yankees games when he was part of the Brooklyn Nets, Diamondbacks games as a member of the Phoenix Suns and even throwing out the first pitch at a Giants game in 2016 when he was on the Golden State Warriors.
Naylor, who was traded from the Diamondbacks to the Mariners at the trade deadline, entered Wednesday’s Game 3 having slashed .290/.313/.452 in the postseason. He will bat fifth.
Oddly enough, this isn’t the first time a Naylor was seen wearing SuperSonics gear. As relayed by The Athletic’s Tyler Kepner, Naylor’s father, Chris, was seen sporting a Gary Payton jersey on the flight from Toronto to Seattle for Game 3.
