With the new season right around the corner, now is the time to get the final rankings in ahead of another 82-game grind. There are so many talented players in the NBA and it’s tough to really get everything down to an accurate ranking, but the folks at The Ringer have certainly tried.

Philadelphia 76ers star Tyrese Maxey continues to rise in his career. He has taken big steps forward in both his overall game and as a leader on the floor as he has lifted up his young teammates around him. The 2025-26 season was solid for him as he averaged a career-high 26.3 points even though his shooting percentages were down due to the lack of help around him.

The Ringer ranked Maxey No. 33 on their list of the top 100 players in the league:

Is Maxey still seen as a complementary star, or is he the focal point? No player in the NBA averaged more minutes per game than Maxey, who spent most of the season simply trying to run out of a collapsing mine alive. After years of being a trusty slingshot in Joel Embiid’s back pocket, he became the entire offense because of all the injuries to Embiid, Paul George, and Jared McCain. His usage rose, as did his scoring average, but at a steep cost to his efficiency. Maxey’s long-range pull-up talent and rim pressure are essential building blocks to superstardom—and the world caught a glimpse of it against the Knicks in the first round of the 2024 playoffs—but it’s hard to sustain such high volume without an all-time talent like Embiid drawing the attention of the entire defense on any given possession.

The Sixers will likely continue to put the ball in Maxey’s hands as he grows into his stardom in this league. While Philadelphia will go as far as Joel Embiid takes them, another big leap from Maxey is a big help in making sure he has enough help to get it done in the playoffs.
