The Washington Wizards and the Detroit Pistons wrap up their 2025 preseason tonight at Little Caesars Arena.

Washington will be without Bilal Coulibaly (thumb) tonight, while Khris Middleton and CJ McCollum are among four players listed as gametime decisions.

Detroit, on its part, has injury concerns of its own: Jaden Ivey, Caris LeVert, and Colby Jones are all listed as questionable. But star Cade Cunningham is expected to return after resting in the previous game.

For Washington, this preseason finale is about identifying what kind of team they’ll be to start a long-term rebuild. With a roster built around youth, including Tre Johnson, Alex Sarr, and Will Riley, the Wizards are prioritizing development and defensive identity over short-term results.

Veterans like McCollum and Middleton are expected to provide stability and leadership without slowing that process, but could be dealt later on in the season for draft capital.

Detroit, on the other hand, is looking to keep its upward momentum going. The Pistons went 44–38 last season, reaching the playoffs for the first time since 2008 and winning their first postseason game in nearly two decades.

Now, the bar is higher. With Cunningham healthy and continuing to mature as the franchise cornerstone, Detroit’s focus is on deepening its supporting cast and taking the next step from playoff team to legitimate Eastern Conference contender.
